What to do when parts of the wrap-around deck substructure are rotting? One contractor wanted to replace the entire substructure and deck! But there was nothing wrong with the composite deck so why do all that when we could selectively replace any rotting joists and outer boards? That’s exactly what we did. Here are some before and after photos. Notice how we built a temporary beam support to hold the weight of the deck while we performed the “surgery”?
